They announced the job description and other details through social networking sites which are accessed by large number of people, under the title of “best job in the world”. It is quite shocking because of just two days after the launch of the “best job in the world” on social networking sites; they received more than 7,500 online applications and nearly 200,000 people logged on to the site to view more details.
The winning candidate must feed aquarium fish, write a weekly blog about their experiences, clean the swimming pool, explore the attractive islands, take snap shots and shoot videos of wild animals in the island to attract tourists throughout the world. They can stay on a luxury home which includes three bedrooms, a swimming pool and a golf cart.
The selected caretaker can work on a six-month contract on the Island on the Great Barrier Reef and he/she will get salary of Aus $150,000 (US $110,000).
In the selection process, prospective candidates were given by another chance through wild card round and finally 16 finalists were selected from 34,000 applicants. The short-listed candidates have arrived to Hamilton Island on the 3rd of May for the final selection process. Candidates include a receptionist, some students, a teacher, a charity event manager, and an actress. They announced the results on 6th.
